ANNUAL GOLF DAY 20220

Inaugural Takapuna District Cricket Club Golf Day 2022

The day dawned bright and sunny as just under a hundred golfers made their way to Pupuke Golf Club for the inaugural TDCC golf day on a warm February morning. All the hard work Daryl and his team had put in was evident – the TDCC gazebo proudly erected, sponsors banners out, ice bins full of various refreshments, free pies on offer and the ladies distributing goodie bags and trying to herd all the would-be golfers to their respective starting holes.

We all scattered to the farthest reaches of the course, the hooter goes off at noon and we’re underway – Ambrose format definitely helping those of a lesser skill and those who’ve already availed themselves of some of the sponsors products. And at times the competition was secondary – the Lounge Suite Ladies entertaining us on the 18th hole, Guy & Max’s disco party hole, the string strategy and its various permutations, chipping contests, nearest the pin, the hunt for the next bin full of crisp, cool products, even passing sincere if unwanted advice to your fellow competitors on an adjacent fairway.

Surprisingly, everyone managed to navigate their way to the conclusion of the round and we repaired to the clubhouse to enjoy some more libations, peruse the auction items on offer and enjoy our catered dinner prior to the fundraising auction and guest speakers.

After dinner, our MC Michael did a great job of cajoling hidden sporting nuggets out of our 3 guest speakers, Josh Kronfeld, Richie Barnett and Kyle Mills – a real cross section of sporting heroes and some great banter as well as great insights into sport at the top level. And our Barfoot & Thompson auctioneer did a great job of cajoling wallets out of pockets to raise a significant amount of much needed funds for the Sports Foundation and our club.
