Auckland U18 vs Northern Districts U18 Girls (FYI only as teams done by ACA and announced 16 February)

ACA has shared that two additional U18 representative fixtures have been added to the calendar to round out the season. These matches provide valuable opportunities for eligible players to gain experience, compete at a higher level, and continue progressing through their relevant development pathway.

ACA acknowledges that the U18 age group does not align with ACA’s usual club, RDP, or representative pathway age bands, which are typically U17 and U19. In this instance, Northern Districts have chosen to operate using U18 as the age bracket, and ACA is supporting this for these specific fixtures.

ACA will be selecting both a Girls U18 and Boys U18 team to play against Northern Districts U18 teams on these dates.

  • Sunday, 22 February – St Paul’s, Hamilton
  • Sunday, 22 March – Auckland (venue TBC)

These games are designed to:

  • Offer elevated playing opportunities for U18 athletes
  • Support development within our representative pathway
  • Help identify players progressing toward higher honours
  • Provide meaningful, competitive experiences to finish the season strong

Selection Information

  • Selections will be announced on Monday, 16 February. Players chosen will receive all details about game day, venue, reporting times, and logistics.
  • Eligibility: Players must be aged 16–18. Anyone outside this age range cannot be selected.
  • Important Note:If a player is participating in the Pearl Dawson Final on 22 February, they will not be eligible for the U18 game on the same day. Finals take priority.

How Players Are Identified and Selected

ACAs goal is to provide opportunities that support player development and recognise performance and potential. Selection considers:

  • Current performance and consistency
  • Future potential within the pathway
  • Leadership qualities
  • Performances in:
    • Regional Development Programme (RDP)
    • Regional tournaments
    • Club cricket
  • NZC’s identified players of interest for the upcoming U19 World Cup
  • Observations from selectors and coaches “around the grounds,” who regularly watch club cricket and communicate with club coaching staff.
    • ACA representative coaches have also been actively observing cricket throughout the season and reporting notable performances.

Auckland Māori Cricket - Expressions of Interest

Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) Māori Cricket is exploring the opportunity to form Tāne (Men’s) and Wāhine (Women’s) teams to play fixtures against Northland Māori and Northern Māori in March. These matches are a fantastic way to grow Māori participation in cricket, strengthen connections to whakapapa/iwi, and celebrate the cultural diversity within our game.

The proposed match dates are:

  • Sunday 22 March – Tāne
  • Saturday 28 March – Tāne & Wāhine

To support planning, they are seeking expressions of interest from players keen to be involved. If you are one of our senior women’s squad players with Māori heritage or descent, we encourage you to register.

Rangatahi

If you're not yet old enough, or don’t quite feel ready to put yourself forward for the senior teams, they still want to hear from you. This is a great chance to start building your connection with Māori cricket, as there is huge potential in Auckland to create community, club, and regional opportunities for young Māori cricketers.

While no Rangatahi fixtures are confirmed yet, if enough interest is shown, the aim is to develop playing opportunities later this season or early next season.

If you are one of our youth girls’ players with Māori heritage or descent, we encourage you to register your interest.
