The battle of the two unbeaten run machines didn't provide quite the fireworks expected as the first week on grass took its toll on totals, but Howick Pakuranga held their nerve to emerge victorious over Takapuna and remain undefeated. Takapuna have topped 300 twice when batting first this season but that never looked likely on Saturday. Greg Johnson provided the mainstay of their innings with 62 and despite contributions from Brad Cachopa (38) and Blake Douglas (31) they could only muster 183. A third wicket partnership of 69 between Aces Andrew de Boorder (54) and Greg Todd provided the impetus for Howick to get home, with some handy lower order contributions also from BLACKCAP Kyle Mills and Donovan Grobbelaar.

Takapuna 183 (Greg Johnson 62, Brad Cachopa 38, Blake Douglas 31, Colin Munro 3-26) lost to Howick Pakuranga 184/7 (Andrew de Boorder 54) by three wickets.

Back at Onewa the Premier Reserves batted first and made it to 205 of 49 overs. Under overcast skies, Mark Farmer opened up well and compiled a patient 54 while further down the order Mark Kilpatrick contributed a handy 35 and Michael Cox blasted a quickfire 55 off just 46 balls. Unfortunately it wasn't enough with Howick Pakuranga reaching the target in the 48th over despite Mark Kilpatrick picking up 3 -18 of his 10 overs.

Takapuna 205 (Michael Cox 55, Mark Farmer 54, Mark Kilpatrick 35) lost to Howick Pakuranga 206/5 (Mark Kipatrick 3-18)
